Lazy Day Puttering

With rain a couple hours away, I lost any ambition I might have had earlier this morning, so the only thing I managed to accomplish was to build a better mockup of the dash. Not as stock appearing as I had hoped, but I'm okay with it. I'm not even sure if I want to make the deeper gauge bezels that would look more like the OEM gauges.

  1. Hi Gary,

I may not have gotten far enough in your blog, but what gauges are those? What material did you use on the dash around the gauges?

    Thanks

    1. They are from New Vintage and were the closest in appearance to the stock gauges. I had considered having custom faces to match the originals, but the quoted price was too high.

I ordered the aluminum trim from an online decorative metal supplier. It's very similar to the original pattern, but there are fewer vertical lines. The biggest problem is that it only comes in 8" widths, so there is a seam. The good part is that I can use it on the console to make it look more original.
